Our leadership responsibility is to advance our community’s wellbeing today and into the future. We have extended our thinking past the confines of the Ten Year Plan, framing our work with the Embracing Futures Thinking strategic planning process that began in 2008.

The challenges facing the Hawke’s Bay community are many and complex. Our ability to foresee important changes and respond effectively is key to thriving in an ever-changing environment.

Scenario thinking is growing as one of the few proven tools for developing our capacity to understand and manage uncertainty. A study of the past has value as a tool for present thinking despite being incomplete. So too is a study of the future vital, even if only a snapshot.

Here, you will not find plans, policies or initiatives, our intention is to provide a starting point for action, a common language with which to discuss our collective future.
